  • El Dorado State Park consists of approximately 8,000 surface acres of water, 4,500 acres of park lands, and 3,500 acres of wildlife area.
  • There’s plenty to explore as El Dorado holds the title of Kansas' largest state park.
  • Accessibility is a main feature of El Dorado, and it is regarded as one of the state's most handicapped accessible parks.

Deer Grove RV Park

Located just south of El Dorado State Park, Deer Grove RV Park offers full hookups for overnight stays, as well as free cable and Wi-Fi at each  campsite. Their clean restrooms and showers are available all year round, and the climate controlled laundry room has a local phone available 24/7. In case of tornados, there is an on-site tornado shelter so you don’t get carried off like Dorothy. Finally, the rustic, but elegant "Club House" is available for events or RV Rally use.

El Dorado RV Park

Want to explore all that the park has to offer without leaving its limits? Reserve a campsite from one of El Dorado’s four primary campgrounds. These grounds include 1,100 campsites that range from primitive to full utility hookups, 11 group picnic shelters, 10 camping cabins, showers, and laundry and restroom facilities.

Permits can be purchased from the state park office, gate houses, camp hosts, or the self-pay stations. There is a 14-day limit for all campground stays. For visitors wanting a longer stay, a 14-day extension may be obtained with written permission from the park manager. 

El Dorado State Park Campground Frontier 9

Situated right at the edge of the Walnut River, the Frontier 9 campground is a beautiful area surrounded by large trees that offer plenty of shade. The ground’s large and spacious sites come with both power hookups and water. Just steps from El Dorado Lake, you’ll be sure to catch the cool wind rolling off the water to soothe your sunburn from a day of fishing or swimming. 

Big Oak Campground

On the other side of the Walnut River, you’ll find spacious and shady areas for tent or RV camping in the Big Oak Campground. These grounds have access to fishing, swimming, and trails all within walking distance. The semi-rustic concrete block bathrooms are clean and easily accessible, and there are electrical hookups for your RV at each site. Wildlife lovers can catch a view of critters in the early morning –– from deer and wild turkey to raccoons, a woodchuck family and, if you’re lucky, a family of armadillos!

Bluestem Point Area - Sunflower Meadow Campground

On the peninsula that cuts right into El Dorado Lake sits the Bluestem Point Area - Sunflower Meadow Campground. This is the perfect beach area to swim, relax, or get the family out on the jet skis! The bathrooms have a reputation of being a bit of an “adventure,” but you won’t be spending much time inside with all the outdoor wonder to explore. 

Bluestem Point Area - Big Pine Campground

Bluestem Point Big Pine at El Dorado State Park can be your home away from home. With access to a variety of trails for hiking, biking, or horseback riding, there is something for everyone. This site offers a laundry facility and a general store  and bait shop nearby to stock up on essentials. Enjoy the open fields, the rocky shorelines, or the old river channels perfect for fishing.
