We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite Canadian road trips, each offering a unique view into the country; each worthy of adding to your travel list!

Trans-Canada Highway

If you’re looking for a grand adventure (i.e., one that will last at least two weeks), then a drive along the Trans-Canada Highway is the road trip for you. At 4,860 miles (7,800 km), this highway is the world’s longest national road, taking you through all of Canada’s ten provinces and most major cities. The trail starts on the East Coast at St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador and cuts across contrasting landscapes and beautiful cities to the West Coast at Victoria, British Columbia. Icefields Parkways, Alberta 

Massive glaciers. Turquoise lakes. Lush meadows. Snow-capped mountains. One of the world’s most-Instagrammed places, the 144-mile (232 km) route between Jasper and Banff gives you a front-row seat to the stunning beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Get up close and personal with the glaciers in the summertime by boarding an ice explorer on the Athabasca Glacier. And be sure to camp for the night, in your RV rental in Alberta, along the pristine waters of glacier-fed Lake Louise.

The Dempster Highway, Yukon and Northwest Territories

For a road trip that takes you away from people and into the wild, we recommend the Dempster Highway. The route starts in Dawson City, Yukon, which is home to the original gold strike that spurred the Klondike Gold Rush. It runs 417 miles (671 km) across the Arctic Circle to Inuvik, Northwest Territories, an area known for its fall colors, migrating caribou and views of the Northern Lights. While you can take as much time as you want, most people spend about a week on this road trip.

Sea to Sky Country, British Columbia 

Three-day weekends more your jam? Only 101 miles (125 km) long, the Sea to Sky Country route is the perfect little jaunt for the casual RVer. You can pick up your RV rental in Vancouver before heading north along Highway 99. Photo opps will abound as you drive past coastal rain forests, towering mountain peaks and gushing waterfalls. While the route is short, there’s plenty to do along the way. Satisfy your need for adventure with day hikes, mountain biking and rock climbing in Squamish, Whistler and Shannon Falls Provincial Park. After exploring the former mining community of Britannia Beach, reward yourself with locally crafted beer.

The Cabot Trail, Nova Scotia

For those looking to sample various cultures on their trip, the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia is a must. Hailed by Lonely Planet as one of the best road trips in the world, the 186-mile (300 km) route lets visitors immerse themselves in the province’s Scottish and Acadian (French) heritages with festivals, concerts and traditional villages. You can also try your hand at fishing, tasting your way through the region’s world-renowned lobster and crab dishes. Explore the incomparable Cabot Trail in an RV rental in Nova Scotia.
