There is no better way to explore the Empire State than in one of our Ontario RV rentals from Cruise America. Ontario is located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, in Wayne County, New York. It lies 15 miles east of the city of Rochester.

As the Northwestern gateway to New York's Finger Lakes, Rochester is part of a splendid region. It was ranked by Money Magazine as one of the "10 best places to vacation." USA Today calls it a "serendipitous and surprising getaway," and Expansion Management Magazine ranked Rochester as "number 1 among metropolitan areas," stating that it has the "best quality of life in the nation." In addition, Places Rated Almanac ranked Rochester as the "sixth best place to live in America."

There are a host of family-friendly activities, professional sports teams, museums and galleries in Rochester; definitely something for everyone. Enjoy the scenic Erie Canal, Genesee River and Lake Ontario. The Strong National Museum of Play (America's second-largest children's museum) is a must, as is the International Museum of Photography. Don't miss the chance to sample one of Rochester's famous "white hots." That's Rochester's version of the hotdog! And be sure to explore the nearby Finger Lakes region with its wine trails and gorges.

For a great daytrip from Rochester, try visiting Letchworth State park. It's about one-and-a-half hours south of Rochester, via I-390. It's near the town of Mount Morris. It's a breathtakingly beautiful park that features several large waterfalls spread amongst the 14,350 acres, where you will find 70 miles of beautiful hiking trails and endless scenery. This park is part of the Genesee Gorge, otherwise known as the "Grand Canyon of the East." The park has a multitude of RV camping and picnic areas, not to mention the well-maintained grounds. There is an Iron Spider Bridge that crosses the gorge above the falls. It is rumored that there is a spectacular view from atop this bridge, and many folks disregard the “No Trespassing” signs to find out. According to Norfolk Southern Railroad, the 136-year-old bridge is slated to be demolished, and replaced by a modern up-to-date arch bridge.

If you weren't sure about it before, you will be convinced after a trip in a Cruise America motorhome that no other method of travel compares to the comfort and convenience of a Cruise America rental RV.
