The ship is enormous and very impressive, and the docents that guide you through the tour are extremely knowledgeable about the ship, as many of them called it home while serving their country. There are attractions galore in San Diego, including SeaWorld, Balboa Park, and the San Diego Zoo … and that's just a sampling.

In nearby Carlsbad you'll find a wonderland for you, as well as your kids. LEGOLAND is a wonderland built almost entirely out of the small, multi-colored blocks we know as Legos. You can start at the Sea Life Aquarium, and work your way around the maze of attractions, where there is an overabundance of creative energy. There are several attractions in the park that are not rides, and require no waiting in line. There are some great play areas for the kids, including the building and testing area, where they are issued a set of wheels and can build their own cars and test them on the LEGOLAND track. To get there from San Diego, take 15 North or South to 78 West to Interstate 5 South, then take Cannon Road, head East, turn right at LEGOLAND Drive. From there, follow the signs to your fun, family destination.
 
Other wonderful attractions outside of San Diego are the La Jolla Sea Caves, the Temecula Wine Country, Rosarito Beach, the Fleet Science Center, Julian, Point Loma, Coronado Village and so much more.
