San Diego offers a wealth of attractions for you and your family to enjoy. Start by taking a stroll along the world-famous walkway at Mission Beach. While there, ride the historic wooden roller coaster at Belmont Park or take on the waves at the FlowBarrel (a wave machine that pumps 100,000 gallons of water per minute), producing an endless barreling wave. Celebrate the natural wonders of the ocean at SeaWorld San Diego, or visit the world-renowned 107-acre San Diego Zoo. Take a stroll through the shops and restaurants of Seaport Village and the Gaslamp Quarter.

Once you have exhausted the things to do in San Diego (like that's gonna happen), several nearby day trips will be taken in your rental RV.

About an hour north of San Diego lies Temecula, the home of more than 30 wineries, with tasting rooms and private tours. The fun stays alive all year with the various festivals and a buzzing nightlife. For the shoppers, there are a myriad of exquisite boutiques, and for the chefs, there is a wide selection of fine olive oils and balsamic vinegars. There are several RV parks for camping enjoyment should you stay the night. Getting there from San Diego is easy and takes less than an hour. Just take I-15 N for 57 miles and exit at the Temecula Parkway in Temecula.

For a fantastic family adventure, consider hopping out of your motorhome and into a boat for a Pacific Nature Tour from Mission Bay to the Coronado Islands, just across the Mexican border. From the end of December through mid-April, about 26,000 gray whales transition from the cold waters of the Arctic Sea to Baja, California. From June to November, the blue whales journey to their feeding grounds. On tour, you'll likely see whales, dolphins, elephant seals, and more. In addition to the sights, you'll be treated to breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Don't forget your jackets...it can get a little frigid on the boat.

Julian is an amazing little historic town that makes for a tasty getaway. It's famous for its apple pies, and the area offers much more than pies. The drive is exquisite scenery as you pilot your motorhome from sea level to 4,000 feet in a distance of about 30 miles. The views are breathtaking, as are the tiny towns you pass through on your journey. You enter the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park territory once you're about a third of the way to Julian. If you can swing it, take the time in the park to hike, go camping, or just have a picnic. As you near the end of the park, you begin to see the famous lake Cuyamaca. This lake offers the whole family plenty of great amenities and activities, including camping, fishing, boat rentals, hiking, and eating establishments. You can get your bait, tackle, and fishing license at the tackle shop. About nine miles past the lake is Julian. Albeit only three blocks long, this quaint little town has all you need to keep your family busy and entertained for at least a week. As a bonus, the whole town smells like the fresh apple pies constantly being baked.
