With more than 230 days of sunshine each year, there is never a shortage of things to do in Sacramento. It's the perfect place for taking in the California sun. You can go wine tasting at any of the 200 wineries in the Sacramento area. There is a host of sporting events to attend. The NBA Sacramento Kings reside there, as do the Minor Baseball League's River Cats and the Sacramento Republic FC soccer team. Or you can create your own sports by taking advantage of the more than 30 miles of paved bike trails, two rivers for rafting, as well as many other forms of outdoor recreation for the whole family.
If you want to venture out, there are a number of enjoyable daytrips to be taken from Sacramento.
How about taking the family to a sweet tourist destination? Who wouldn't love to explore the Jelly Belly Candy Factory? It's located at 1 Jelly Belly Lane in Fairfield, California. To get there, just follow I-80 W for about 39 miles (45 minutes) into Fairfield. While on the factory tour, you can smell the aromas of chocolate, peach, pineapple, cinnamon, or whatever other flavors may be cooking. The tour is a walking tour and lasts about 40 minutes. At the end of the tour, you get to sample the sweet treats you just watched being made!
Apple Hill is the perfect traditional fall family destination, and has been for over 50 years. It offers the right mix of adult attractions, mixed with kid friendly family activities. There are 50 apple farms where you can pick your own fruit. There's also a Christmas tree farm, a microbrewery that offers handcrafted beers, a spa and even some vineyards. For the kids, there's a pumpkin patch and corn maze. They're kid-sized, but grown-ups can have fun in them too. It's open year-round, but the apple picking is best in the months of mid September through November. Blueberry picking is in mid June and pumpkin picking is in October. Apple Hill is located an hour east of Sacramento, just northeast of Placerville. An RV rental in California is a wonderful way to soak in the sun of California.
Given the beautiful weather of Sacramento, mixed with the gorgeous scenery and tons of family activities, you can't go wrong exploring the Golden State in a rental RV from Cruise America.
