Best Time To Visit Prince Edward Island National Park

Winter

It’s tough to recommend RV camping at Prince Edward Island National Park in winter.  Temperatures dip as low as 12 degrees Fahrenheit from January to early-March. That takes most fun things to do there (beachside activities) off the table. 

Spring

Spring could make a nice alternative to summer if you’re willing to give up getting in the water. Crowds don’t start to gather heavily until mid-July. But June temperatures hover around 65 degrees Fahrenheit. That makes it a nice sweet spot to still enjoy a walk on the beach, or a hike over white sand dunes in comfort and peace.

Summer

Summer is the main event at Prince Edward Island National Park. It’s the high season, but for good reason. Temperatures hit a pleasant 75 degrees in July and August. It’s the best time to enjoy any activity available on the island. 

Fall

We can’t recommend a fall visit either considering the cold temperatures making a beach day seem like short-lived fun. There’s not much fall foliage to speak of either. Making the trip in the first week or so of September will give you a summer vibe without the crowds. But, you’ll be a bit cooler with a 60 degree average temperature.

• If you get caught in a rip current stay calm, swim parallel to the shore, and swim towards breaking waves (not against them).
