Best Time to Visit Mustang Island State Park for RV Camping

Winter

December through February is the slowest season. Enjoy a number of attractions without the crowds. While the lows in these months can dip down to the upper 40s, highs can reach between 68-75 degrees Fahrenheit. The weather can make for sunny, beautiful beachside afternoons. Take advantage of the fewer people and fewer bugs. Enjoy the scenic views, calm waters, and clean beach. Explore the area on a hike, by bike, or find your way to the nearby Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. There you'll get to see more of the local flora and fauna.  

Spring

In the spring, things really start heating up. As the days get hotter and hotter, it’s definitely time to hit the water. Air temperatures climb steadily from the upper 70s to 90 degrees in the daytime and drop to the 60s-70s. Water temperatures stay above 68 degrees making spring the official start of the swimming season. 

With the water this warm already, it’s also a great time to go fishing! Try taking out a kayak on one of the trails and fishing some of the shallow-water fishing areas. Spring is the beginning of the state park’s more popular season, so expect to share the beach. 

Summer

Summer highs soar into the 90s, with lows in the mid-70s through August. July and August are the hottest months to go RV camping near Mustang Island State Park. This is the best time to arrange for some water activities to stay cool in the heat of the day. Fall
