Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania has so much to offer, both above and below ground, that it would be impossible to see it all in one trip, unless, of course, you rent an RV from Cruise America. A few point of interest sites that you must visit in your RV rental in Pennsylvania are:

Knoebels Amusement Resort
Knobels is the largest free admission amusement park in America. Spend the day riding the thrill rides or take a dip in the 900,000 gallon Crystal Pool. No visit to Knoebels is complete without a ride on the Phoenix, a classic wooden coaster that was featured on the Travel Channel`s Coolest Wooden Roller Coasters list. After a long day at the park, hook up your Cruise America RV rental at Knoebel`s Lake Glory Campground.

Gettysburg
Make your next motorhome rental vacation an educational one with a stop at the Gettysburg Battlefield. The Gettysburg National Military Park showcases some of the most historic Civil War sites in the nation. The Gettysburg Museum and Visitors Center is open year round, and visitors with an interest in the paranormal will enjoy a ghost tour through one of the most haunted destinations in America. There are several RV parks within a few miles of the battlefield. Reserve early!

Presque Isle
Presque Isle is a peninsula that juts out into Lake Erie. Presque Isle State Park is home to several beaches and boat launches, perfect for sweltering summer days and very popular with our RV rental customers. Visit the famed lighthouse, fly a kite or charter a fishing boat for the day. Presque Isle isn`t just fun in the summer; snowshoers and cross-country skiers flock to the shores of Lake Erie to take in the dramatic winter landscape. Several local campgrounds have hookups for your Cruise America motorhomes.

Independence Hall
A visit to Pennsylvania by RV wouldn`t be complete without a trip to the Liberty Bell. Marvel at the size of America`s most famous bell, and see the room where both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were signed. Afterward, head over to South Street to indulge in a delicious Philly cheesesteak.

Cherry Springs State Park
Cherry Spring State Park, located outside of Coudersport, is one of the few places on Earth where the Milky Way can be seen by the naked eye. While you don`t need to book a tour to stargaze, anyone interested in astronomy will appreciate the informative park guides. Photography workshops are also available to ensure you come away with a few Instagram worthy shots. Plan your RV rental trip to coincide with the next meteor shower for an unforgettable show.

The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania
Hike or bike along the trails of Pennsylvania`s own Grand Canyon to view the waterfalls cascading down the steep canyon walls. The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania can be enjoyed year round, but a trip during the fall season is highly recommended. The fall foliage is breathtaking when viewed from the canyon`s observation decks.

Penn`s Cave
Take a boat tour through the limestone caverns of Penn`s Cave, located near State College. Tours are available from February through December, but be sure to bring a jacket, the temperature in the cave remains at 52 degrees year round. Penn`s Cave is also home to a wildlife sanctuary where you`ll see wolves, bears, bobcats, bison and mountain lions.

Jim Thorpe
Jim Thorpe is a quaint village situated on the banks of the Lehigh River. Hop aboard the Lehigh Scenic Gorge Railway to see the area`s incredible fall foliage, walk the halls of the reputedly haunted Jim Thorpe Jail or book a whitewater rafting excursion. Hike the nearby Glen Onoko Falls Trail, and you`ll see multiple waterfalls and enjoy unrivaled views of the valley below. There`s something to do in Jim Thorpe 365 days a year.

Centralia
A coal mine under Centralia has been burning since 1962, and it shows no signs of stopping any time soon. All that`s left of this smoldering ghost town is the white church perched on top of a hill, a cemetery and a handful of homes occupied by the town`s brave residents. Walk along the abandoned highway, now covered in an impressive amount of graffiti, while the sulfurous steam billowing from cracks in the ground adds an eerie ambiance to this deserted locale. If Centralia seems familiar; it`s because the town inspired the Silent Hill movies and video games.

Bonus Destination: Pioneer Tunnel
If visiting Centralia sparks an interest in coal mining, drive your motorhome rental a few short miles to Pioneer Tunnel. Located in the small town of Ashland, Pioneer Tunnel is a coal mine tour that takes you 1800 feet underground into what was once a working coal mine. The tour gives you a glimpse of what life was like for the area`s coal miners.

The best way to explore everything this beautiful state has to offer is to get behind the wheel of an RV in Pennsylvania and drive.
